New to St. George's?
Welcome to St. George's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Virginia. Find out more about us.

Welcome to St. George’s Church in Arlington, an inclusive, caring and multigenerational congregation. St. George’s bridges urban and suburban: our church is surrounded by high-rise offices and condominiums, but neighborhoods of single-family houses are only two blocks away. We are located at the Virginia Square Metro station which connects us to the rest of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. This richness makes us a congregation from all walks and stages of life and we aspire to more fully reflect the diversity of our vibrant setting.

Both of our Sunday services, a Rite I service at 8:00 am and a Rite II service at 10:30 am have a committed group of attendees. Music is central to our congregational life and greatly enhances our worship at each service, but especially at the 10:30 service.

What if I have young children? Will they be valued at St. George's? Does St. George's offer child care? Yes and yes! Find out more.

We welcome newcomers through our doors almost every week. Some are short-term visitors to the Washington area, some will be in our community for a few months or years for professional assignments, and others will be here for a lifetime. We constantly strive to minister to the changing community directly outside our doors and to find our place in this urban environment. This search is informed by an awareness of the unique and valuable asset we have in our location.

Speaking of location, where can I park?

St. Georgians demonstrated their can-do nature throughout the snowy winter of 2009/10. Three major weekend storms shut down the metropolitan area and many churches. On each of these snowy Sundays, a core of hardy St. Georgians came to worship at each of our services. The interim rector and many others walked to church, while others skied, rode the Metro, or drove on the partially-cleared streets. People stepped forward as needed to read, usher, make music, or serve as lay Eucharistic ministers. This commitment and creativity exemplifies how we rise to meet our challenges.

St. George‘s is one of 10 Episcopal congregations in Arlington County—also known as Region 3—of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia.
