Monday Bible study schedule

St. George’s Monday Bible study will study two books of the Bible in 2008-2009: Exodus and Acts.

  • Exodus takes us even further back into the history of humankind’s relationship with God. It is a unique book. In it we find a description of the formation of the people whose story provides the narrative framework of the Old Testament. Several key events in the life of this people are first mentioned in this book—the liberation of Israel from Egypt and the gift of the law at Mt. Sinai. These events shape the identity of God’s people and become signposts for reflection and renewal in Israel's later history and the early decades of the Christian church.

  • Acts was written by Luke 2,000 years ago to tell the story of the nature and purpose of the early Christian church. If we desire to know what the church is for, where its power and direction come from, and how to be the church today, Acts is the book to study.

We will begin with Exodus at noon in Room 207 on Mondays, beginning September 15, 2008. We will use resources produced by Kerygma. Each resource book costs $23 ($46 for both). If you would like to participate, but cannot afford the book, scholarships are available. For more information, and/or to have a book ordered for you, please contact Suzannah Rohman.
