Arlington Trivium events

A group for Arlington Episcopalians in their 20s and 30s; visit its official site

  • Arlington Trivium (20s and 30s) Episcopalians take a fresh look into Christian scriptures, next at Cosi on Fairfax Drive near St. George’s on second Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:30 PM, when we will explore the narratives about Christ’s birth. We’ll meet the second Thursday of every month; same place, same time. All are welcome to join us. Remaining dates in 2008 are: May 8, June 12, July 10, August 14, September 11, October 9, November 13, and December 11.

  • Arlington Trivium (20s and 30s) Episcopalians gather After Work on fourth Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Future After Work gatherings will be:

Tidbits from around the region

St. Andrew’s:

  • Is planning a teens mission trip to Mississippi for August 2008.

  • Will hold a parish meeting on April 13 and its annual congregational meeting on May 18.

  • Teens are planting a vegetable garden so that they can provide fresh vegetables to clients of the Arlington Food Assistance Center.

  • The Rev. Beverly Weatherly is the interim rector. Peter Wehmannas is the delegate and Richard Knight the alternate.

St. Michael’s:

  • Is planning a senior high mission trip to southwestern Pennsylvania for June 22 through June 29.

  • The Rev. Leslie Hague is Rector and the Rev. George Caldwell is priest associate. Jim Burke is delegate and Helen Hines is alternate delegate.

St. George’s:

  • Is celebrating its centennial in 2008, and Centennial Sunday on April 20.

  • Holds special worship services at 6:00 PM on the First Sunday of each month, October through June.

  • The Rev. Ron Crocker is the Rector and the Rev. Suzannah Rohman the Associate Rector. Affiliated priests include the Rt. Rev. A. Theodore Eastman and the Revs. Robert Prichard, Benjamin Axleroad, Beth HumphreyAnne Michel is the delegate and Laurie Lewis the alternate delegate through the January 2009 annual diocesan council.

St. Peter’s:

  • St. Peter’s music program has its own Web site at http://www.stpetersmusic.org/.

  • St. Peter’s has a blog at http://saintpetersarlington.blogspot.com/.

  • Has two mission trips planned: one to the Dominican Republic in late June and one to the Rusebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota for late July.

  • The Very Rev. Craig Phillips is the Rector, and the Revs. Ann Martens and Mary Demmler Assistant Rectors. Delegates are Mimi Barringer, Andy Oliver, and Jack Schick; Katharine Griffith is alternate delegate.

St. Mary’s:

  • Is planning an art show for Easter–Pentecost: An exhibition of work by our youth

  • Has an active group of people in their 20s and 30s; check out what’s happening at the group’s Web space.

  • The Rev. Andrew Merrow is the Rector, the Rev. Jennifer Strawbridge Associate to the Rector, and the Rev. Elizabeth Marie Melchionna is Assistant to the Rector. Steve Bevis, Mike Gilliland, and Marcia Dodge are lay delegates.

St. John’s:

  • The Rev. Ann Barker is the Rector. Eileen Flynn is the delegate and Bill Schenck is the alternate.

Trinity:

  • The Rev. Kim Coleman is the Rector. Carol Burroughs is the Region 3 representative to the Diocese of Virginia’s Executive Board, Dick Taliaferro is the delegate, and Arlene Casimiro the alternate.

Iglesia Cristo Rey and San José:

  • The Rev. Catherine Campbell is Interim Vicar of both of these Spanish-language congregations. Cristo Rey worships at St. John’s, and San José in the chapel at St. George’s. Delegates from Cristo Rey and San José are Antelo Norka and Sonia Sevilla.
