Parish Care Ministry
St. George’s Church is a vibrant community
in which people express their care and concern for one another. As parishioners
of St. George’s, we are each our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, as Jesus taught
us. Each Sunday we are dismissed to go out into the world and serve our
community: home, school, workplace, neighborhood, and church. St. George’s
Parish Care Committee focuses on the personal/pastoral needs of our
congregation. We do this through the meatloaf ministry, flower delivery, sending
cards, and through the intercessory prayer group.
Intercessory Prayer Group
St.
George’s Intercessory
Prayer Group prays for people in need on a daily basis. Prayer requesters
have the comfort of knowing that a dedicated group of individuals are praying
for their needs, while Intercessory Prayer Group participants enjoy the support
of others who are praying along with them. Meant to complement the existing
prayer opportunities presented in the Sunday bulletin and weekly prayer list
e-mail, the Intercessory Prayer Group provides a more immediate and in-depth
prayer opportunity. Contents of prayer submissions in kept in strict confidence.
You can submit your prayer requests
online.
Meatloaf Ministry
St. George’s
Meatloaf Ministry organizes help to care for
our members in times of crisis. It maintains a bank of volunteers who are
willing to provide services from time to time. When a crisis arises, it talks
with the person or family in need to figure out how St. Georgians can help. Then
it contacts its list of volunteers and schedules delivery of whatever services
are needed. Persons who serve here may prepare a meal for a family or
individual, run an errand for someone unable to get food or a prescription,
baby-sit for an hour or two, or provide respite care for someone whose loved one
cannot be left alone. Each assignment is periodic, and assignments are ad hoc,
meaning you are not responsible for all the work. During the two years this
ministry has existed, we have provided assistance for about 15 individuals and
families (all of whom have been very grateful for this care). A one-time
assignment is quite adequate. Again, if this ministry fits your already
committed schedule, contact Joan Pepin.
Card Ministry
The Parish Care Committee sends cards to
those who are long time St. Georgians and who can, due to health, no longer
participate in the life of the church as they may have done years ago.
