Benjamin J. Keseley, Minister of Music
Ben Keseley joined the staff of St. George’s in the summer of 2009. A strong believer in the prophetic voice of music and the arts, Ben is excited to join the people of St. George’s in cultivating a dynamic music and arts ministry.
Prior to serving St. George’s, Ben was the Minister of Worship and Music at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence, Kansas. He received his undergraduate undergraduate education from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and his Masters of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Church Music from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. His organ teachers have included William Kuhlman, Dana Robinson, Christopher Anderson, James Higdon, and Michael Bauer.
As recitalist and conductor, Ben has performed throughout the United States. Additionally he has appeared in masterclasses with Guy Bovet, Marie-Claire Alain, Susan Landale, and Oliver Latry. He was awarded the Kathryn Ulviden Moen organ scholarship as an undergraduate, and is a member of Phi Kappa Lambda, the national music honor society.
In addition to his work at St. George’s, Ben maintains a private organ and voice studio and is the coordinator for the Potomac Organ Institute. Ben and his wife, the Rev. Meredith Lovell Keseley, and their daughter Julia, live in Springfield with their dog, Luther.
