A light breakfast of bagels, muffins and doughnuts will be served at 8:00
AM. From 8:30 to 9:30, the group will have an informal discussion. A topic
we might talk about is “Should our Christian beliefs inform our politics?”
The meeting is in Room 214 in the church. If you have questions now, or if
you have trouble getting in the front door of the church on the day of the
meeting, please call John Churchman on his cell phone at 703-300-6574.
Shrine Mont slideshow 3/7
Have you ever contemplated going to
Shrine Mont but
just weren’t sure what you were getting into? Or, do you have fond memories
of years past at Shrine Mont? Either way, you’re invited to come and watch a
slideshow and hear a brief presentation about Shrine Mont during the 11am
coffee hour on Sunday, March 7.
Get answers to your questions and make the decision to join friends and
fellow parishioners at our parish retreat, scheduled for the weekend of
April 30-May 2. This year’s retreat will be
very relaxing and low-key, allowing for group activities or independent time
as you prefer. Look for the sign-up table on Sundays during coffee hour,
starting March 7, to get more information and sign up.
Bishop Robert Ihloff will visit St. George's on
Sunday, March 14. Bishop Ihloff will
preach at the 11:00 service and will lead an adult forum at 10:00. There
are no baptisms, confirmations or reaffirmations scheduled for that Sunday.
We would like to ensure that we have extra special coffee hours that
Sunday. All parishioners are asked to bring an item to share for coffee
hour, such as baked goods, pastries, fruit, or a savory snack.
Contributions can be dropped off in the kitchen prior to the 9:00 or 11:00
service; coffee hour hosts will take care of the rest.
Urban Abbey
community meeting 3/20
St. George's Urban Abbey is holding a community meeting on
Saturday, March 20, from 10:00 AM - 3:00
PM, which will include a luncheon. This meeting will focus on decisions
around leadership, listening groups, and future events. All members are
strongly encouraged to participate, and those interested in joining the
Abbey are most welcome; there will be an opportunity to join to Abbey for
those who wish to do so. Questions? Contact Angela Churchill at
angelachurchill@mac.com or
George DeFilippi at
gdefilippi@gmail.com.
Parents Night Out 4/17
(new date)
Saturday night, April 17, 7:00-10:00
PM. Hire the babysitter and leave the teenagers at home. This is your
chance to socialize with other parents at St. George's without someone
tugging on your sleeve! Bring your best dish and a bottle of wine (or beer
if you prefer). We'll turn the parish hall into a candlelit dining room.
There's no agenda --- just have a nice evening. If you need a babysitter we
have several teenagers here at St. George's who babysit and we'll be glad
to put you in touch. Questions? Contact Rebecca Hill at 703-402-9136
or deleohill@aol.com.
