Nourishing Ourselves

Images from St. George's Episcopal Church

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:35.

A number of groups at St. George's share the goals of reaching out to draw new people into community, while looking inward to meet the spiritual, social, and even practical needs of the congregation.

How can we nourish you?

Adult Education
St. George's offers a wide variety of Christian education opportunities for adults.

Sunday Adult Forum

St. George’s offers adult forums from 9:15 to 10:15 AM each Sunday from September through June in the Parish Hall. Our intention is to support the members of our community as we seek to live out the Baptismal Covenant and to express our unique calling as followers of Jesus Christ.

St. George’s adult forums offer a wonderful opportunity to really consider the big questions of our faith, guided by thoughtful, knowledgeable speakers drawn from our parish and from the wider church community. So, grab a cup of coffee and join us each Sunday.  During our transition, our wardens will host periodic forums to keep the congregation up to date on the search for a new rector.

Region 3 Lenten Community Nights

St. Georgian’s gather in community on Tuesday evenings during Lent with other Arlington Episcopal congregations. A different church hosts the gathering each week in Lent. We enjoy a simple supper church beginning at 6:30 PM, then a one-hour Lenten-themed program, ending with a short Compline service at 8:30 PM.

Quiet Night events

St. George’s schedules “quiet night events” near the start of the seasons of Advent and Lent to provide an opportunity to spend time in prayer and meditation.

Murky Book Club

The Murky Book Club meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Northside Social on Wilson Boulevard. This is an informal group: you don’t have to show up every week, and you don’t have to read the book. The group is open to anyone who is interested in discussing and exploring what it means to be a Christian.

Pretty Good Girls Book Club

The Pretty Good Girls Book Club meets on Friday nights, usually once a month, to discuss books and enjoy some very good company.
