A checklist for your wedding
at St. George’s Episcopal Church

Six months prior to the wedding

• Contact the rector

• Request initial meeting with officiating clergy

Five months prior to the wedding

• Return wedding information sheet to provide the office staff and Altar Guild with confirmed wedding and rehearsal dates and times and other required information

• Arrange premarital instruction sessions

• Contact Dr. Jane Tavernier at (703) 525-8286 regarding music availability, guidelines, and fees

• Contact Patty Lundquist, the Altar Guild Coordinator.

• Process The Petition for Consent to solemnize a marriage after a divorce if applicable

One month prior to the wedding

• Provide music selections to the organist

• Arrange pick-up and delivery of flower vase liners

• Designate someone to be at the church to receive the flowers for the bridal party

• Consult with officiating priest about the content of the wedding service bulletin (NOTE: The church does not provide bulletins for weddings.)

Two weeks prior to the wedding

• Bring marriage license to the parish office for recording

• Provide separate checks to the parish office for all fees (Please refer to the Fee section for specific information).

Prior to the rehearsal

• Provide the wedding party with directions to the church. (Directions available in the church office upon request)

At the rehearsal

• The bride and groom will sign the Declaration of Intention and the witnesses will sign the Parish Register

On the Day of the Wedding

• Wedding party arrives at least thirty minutes in advance—earlier if photos are arranged

• Flowers for bridal party delivered to church at least one hour in advance.
