December 22nd: Wisdom

Wisdom
This season we need wisdom to care for ourselves and others. COVID 19 has reminded us how precious and fragile we are. “Wisdom is the perfection of knowledge of the righteous as a gift from God showing itself in action”. (Wikipedia) This season, I’m enjoying my Nativity scene so much more.  My mother in her wisdom placed the Nativity on a 3-foot table just the right height for me to adore.  I can’t help but to reflect on the passage from Isaiah 40:3-4.

 3 A voice cries out:
‘In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,
   make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be lifted up,
   and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,
   and the rough places a plain.

This Nativity placement by my Mother is a gift on multiple levels.  The wisdom that God has bestowed my Mother helps me to glorify God incarnate. In my wheelchair, I’m able to pull up close to the Nativity, to see the characters, to imagine that night of our Lords’ birth, to pray for deliverance and for the world. I normally do these actions particularly in church. However since we all are “church deprived”.  God is showing me how to worship differently. Our need to practice our rituals is strong.-to adore Christ as we sing, stand, kneel, genuflect, light candles, and bow. I pray that we all find wisdom in worshiping in new and exciting ways.  Amen
