Advent 3 updates

Dear Friends,

I hope you are finding strength and solace on this beautiful day and that you will be able to step out on your balcony, open a window, or go on a walk this afternoon. Days like this really help us to remember that every day sings God’s praises, whatever is going on.

Here are a few important updates…..

The Rt. Rev. Susan Goff has directed that all churches in the Diocese of Virginia cease all outdoor gatherings immediately, so we will not be having our outdoor Sunday service for the foreseeable future. I will miss seeing everyone at that service very much, but agree that this is the best path forward given the surge in Covid cases and our desire to keep everyone safe. We are blessed to have the wise and faithful leadership of our bishop. http://www.thediocese.net/Customer-Content/www/CMS/files/Clergy_Webinar_12_08_2020.pdf.

We will of course maintain our lively on-line presence. As you can see below, there is a lot going on to keep us connected!

Also, our finance committee asks that all of us be mindful of fulfilling our 2020 pledges before the end of the year and that we make our 2021 pledges if we have not yet done so. Many thanks to everyone who has turned in their pledges and to Bob Clarke and Josh House, our stewardship co-chairs, for their faithfulness to this ministry.

As we anticipate the Third Sunday of Advent, I am grateful for this season when we are reminded of the need to always, always be living in expectation of God’s redemption of the world and of each of us.

I look forward to being with you during our on-line services the Sunday.

Stir up your power, O Lord, and with great might come among us; and, because we are sorely hindered by our sins, let your bountiful grace and mercy speedily help and deliver us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Advent blessings,

Shearon+
