A Note of Thanks

Last summer when a group of our Choristers and adults were the residence choir at Lincoln Cathedral in England, we had the chance to experience singing from choir stalls and choir desks.  Our choristers particularly thought this was quite wonderful, as did their director.  They had a place to rest their heavy folders and store their materials for the service.  These desks allowed them to look up and sing, have good posture, and helped them be engaged in the music making at a higher level.  It was a remarkable experience.

We are delighted to welcome the addition of three choir desks to our Song School (music room), courtesy of Jonathan Yuhas and his Eagle Scout project.  Jonathan and his dad, Mike, along with their good family friend and master carpenter, Bill Rodgers, built the desks from a design given to me by a colleague.  Jonathan and his team took the design and customized it for our use so they will work with children or adults. They assembled the desk parts into kits so that a team of scouts could assemble and finish them together with Jonathan’s guidance.  The completed desks were moved to the music room this past week and they look wonderful.

We are so grateful to Jonathan and his team for their fantastic work on this project and their excellent craftsmanship.  The desks are well-made and will serve our choirs for many years to come.  The Choristers and I can’t wait until we can be back in rehearsal together to use our new desks.

Thank you Jonathan, Mike, and Bill!

Soli Deo Gloria!
