Priest in Charge Transition

Saint George’s is a healthy, joyful parish located in an urban neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia. We are blessed with a strong core of long-term members and a steady stream of newcomers, who together comprise over 200 worshipers on a typical Sunday. Our shared commitment is to love and serve God through inclusive and beautiful worship, growing in faith, and loving and serving others. We are a multigenerational church with over 20 ministry and fellowship groups,  a strong culture of lay leadership, and excellent staff. We seek a leader who can assimilate into this community while bringing their own unique gifts and energy to the call.

Specifically, we seek:

• A pastor with a mature, confident Christian faith to minister to all of God’s people, nurturing their growth and maturity as disciples to love and serve the Lord and to serve others in Arlington and beyond;

• An engaging preacher who helps worshipers connect the Word of God to their daily lives and the world around them through inspiring sermons grounded in scripture, tradition and reason;

• A collaborative leader who can partner with existing lay leaders, and identify and empower future leaders, to support the ministries of the parish;

• An effective administrator who can manage the operational needs of a busy and complex parish; and

• A priest who is flexible and comfortable ministering in a diverse urban environment, and who approaches the unexpected with a welcoming pastoral presence.
